An Update From Manhattanville College

Welcome to the Manhattanville College blog. Here are some updates from the past few weeks.

We here at Manhattanville are excited to work with Harrison Patch to create this blog that will keep you informed about the news and events going on at our campus.

Our beautiful 100-acre campus in Purchase, New York, was once the property of Whitelaw Reid, owner of the New York Herald Tribune. The mansion he built on the land is still the staple of our community.

Over the summer, we have made many improvements to campus, including installing new windows and flooring, as well as updated facilities in our dorms.

At the end of August, Manhattanville received an anonymous gift of $5 million, the largest gift in the history of the college. It will be used for the following initiatives:

· Academic Excellence--$2 million to help implement the new Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, ePortfolio, the Foundation of Excellence programs, and an enhanced Student Retention Program. Funds will be used to hire staff, create dedicated space, and manage technologies for these key academic programs

· Capital Improvements—$1 million for facilities improvements to Reid Castle including a welcome center, attention to the first floor bathrooms, and creation of comfortable and functional lounges and gathering spaces. Other suggested capital improvements include modernizing and upgrading classrooms and improving outdoor walkways and signage.

· Leadership Fund -- $2 million to be employed in partnership with the new president, when selected, to help implement the highest priority initiatives of the Manhattanville College Strategic Plan.

With students back on campus and the academic year underway, the semester is about to be in full-swing, with many events and ongoings on campus. Keep an eye out for updates here!
