Ardsley: Dog Days of Summer

Where/When: Anthony F. Veteran Park (11 Olympic Ln. Ardsley) on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cost: $5 per dog

Description: The Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation is closing out the summer season with a splash, as is tradition, with a dogs-only pool party on Sunday. Bring your friendly pooch to the pool to cool off with a dip and make some new canine companions. All participating dogs must register on-site and be licensed and have all current vaccinations. 

Bronxville: Farmer’s Market

Where: 81 Pondfield Rd, Bronxville, NY 10708

Description: Vendors come from all over the Hudson Valley area to sell their fresh fruits, vegetables and other products at the Bronxville Farmers Market. At the Bronxville Farmers Market you can find organic produce, pasture-raised meats and poultry, maple syrup, pickles, cheese, breads, local wines and so much more.

Croton: The 6th annual Toughman Half Iron 

Where: Saturday, Sept. 8, opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 a.m.

When: Croton Point Park, Croton

Cost: free to watch

Description: Spectators are welcome to cheer on the racers at Croton Point Park, where admission is free, and along the adult course through the Historic Hudson River Towns. Croton: Free Sail Ride at Hudson River Day

Where: Croton Yacht Club, 6 Elliot Way, Croton-on-Hudson

When: Saturday, Sept. 7, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: As part of the Croton Yacht Club's River Day and the Hudson River Valley Ramble, Ferry Sloops will be offering free sail rides at the Croton Yacht Club. The free hourly sails are on a "first come, first served" basis. No reservations will be accepted prior to the sail day. Guests can to sign up at the Ferry Sloops table in the tent beginning at 10 a.m. for any of the day's scheduled sail times. (limit of 4 passengers per sail).

Elmsford: CAPTURED VISIONS” - Exhibit Reception

Where:  Greenburgh Public Library, 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, NY

When: Saturday, Sept. 7, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Harrison: Two Guys from Rat Race performs at  Off the Grid 

Where:  Greenburgh Public Library, 300 Tarrytown Road, Elmsford, NY

When: Saturday, Sept. 7, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: free

Description: TWO GUYS FROM RAT RACE CHOIR are half the band, with all the sound! This duet has wowed crowds for years. Rock, Motown, dance, and jazz are just some of the music genres this combo stretches out to during their performance. Incredible musicianship, a few laughs, and great food and drink are what you can expect.

Hastings: The Take Me to the River Music & Arts Festival

Where: Draper Park in Hastings

When: Saturday, Sept. 7 from 12 to 7 p.m.

Cost: $18 in advance; $25 at-the-gate; $5 youths ages 10 to 17; $10 for seniors and student with ID

Description: Live performances, art installations and kid-friendly activities are on tap Saturday for the seventh annual arts and music festival in Hastings. Mamaroneck: Kiwanis Club 40th Annual Car Show

Where: Harbor Island Park Mamaroneck,N

When: Sunday, Sept.8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Description: The Kiwanis Club of Mamaroneck, Harrison and Rye are holding their 40th annual car show on Sept 8th at Harbor Island Park in Mamaroneck,NY.  There will be hundreds of car as well as flea market vendors and great food. Please come out and support their efforts.  All money raised is given back to the community.

New Rochelle: 325th Anniversary Street Fair in New Rochelle

Where: Main Street in New Rochelle

When: Sunday, Sept.8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

Cost: Free

Description: Produced by StreetFairs.org, in partnership with with 325th Anniversary Committee and the City of New Rochelle, the fair will feature games, food, arts and crafts and live entertainment between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. There will also be a classic car show and a local businesses and community showcase. Committee Chairwoman Marianne Sussman said the street fair was a wonderful occasion for all to celebrate both New Rochelle's 325-year heritage and its present-day vitality. 

Ossining: Annual Antiques and Collectables Fair

Where:  Ossining Historical Society Museum, museum grounds at 196 Croton Avenue in Ossining

When: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, (rain date Sept. 14, 2013).

Cost: free to browse

Description: A wide variety of collectibles, antiques and freshly baked goods will be offered for sale. Bring your treasures for expert appraisals. Food and refreshments will be available all day. Over 35 venders will be participating. For information call 914-941-0001.

Pleasantville: Academy of Dance Arts Open House

Where/When: Academy of Dance Arts on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Description: This Pleasantville dance studio is kicking off its 14th season this weekend. There will be free demo classes, discounts, food, giveaways and more at the open house.

Port Chester: Ribbon Cutting for Community Mosaic Mural at the Clay Art Center

Where: Clay Art Center 40 Beech street Port Chester, NY

Description: This beautiful piece of public art, made by the hands the community, gives Clay Art Center an artistic exterior face and thereby identifies what goes on inside its doors. Purchase: Auditions for Children Interested in Performing in The Nutcracker

Where: Dance Building on the Purchase College, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.

Description: The internationally-known Conservatory of Dance, within The School of the Arts at Purchase College, SUNY, is holding auditions Saturday, Sept. 7. Boys and girls, ages 5-13, are invited to audition to perform in Nutcracker ‘13. Children should have some previous dance experience. Some parts require advanced dance training.Dancers should be no taller than 5’. Boys are encouraged to audition. Dance attire or sweatpants should be worn to audition. Scarsdale: Book Sale

Sleepy Hollow: 17th Annual Sleepy Hollow Street Fair

Where: Beekman Avenue, Sleepy Hollow

When: Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: free

Description: Thousands of people come out to enjoy the firehouse ribs, restaurant food, outdoor cafes, and so many unique vendors and activities in this annual street festival.

Sleepy Hollow: Half Way to St. Patrick's Parade Party & Fundraiser

Where: Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall, 322 North Broadway, Sleepy Hollow

When: Sunday, September 8, 2013, 2 to 6 p.m., rain or shine

Cost: Donation $25, children under 12 free.

Somers: "What would you love in 2013?"

Tarrytown: Annual Robin Brittellia Memorial Run/Walk 

Where: The Crest neighborhood in Tarrytown, starting and ending at the Crest Pool, 70 Midland Avenue.

When: Saturday, Sept. 7 starting at 8:30 a.m.

Cost: $35 pre-registration for participants, $40 on race day

Description: This 5K and kid's fun run are held annually to raise money in support of families affected by cancer and to provide academic/athletic scholarships to a Sleepy Hollow High School student. The race is held in honor of Brittilla, a community legend who died at the age of 51.

White Plains: The International Gem & Jewelry Show

Where: Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave. in White Plains 

When: Friday, Sept. 6, Noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, Sept. 8, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cost: $8 for all three days

Description: The International Gem & Jewelry Show will be at the Westchester County Center September 6 - 8.  Over 50 exhibitors will be selling all types and styles of jewelry, beads and beading supplies.  The show hours are Friday 12pm - 6pm; Saturday 10 am - 6pm; Sunday 11am - 5pm. Admission is $8 for all three days.  Children 8 and under aren't allowed in the show.

White Plains: White Plains Jazz Festival 

Where: Various locations in White Plains

When: Friday, Sept. 6 through Sunday, Sept. 8

Cost: Varies

Description: The event, which will run through Sunday, will feature top performers at venues throughout the city. On Saturday, comedian Bill Cosby is scheduled to take the stage at the Westchester County Center as part of the festival. Cosby's show is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets can be purchased here. The festival culminates Sunday with The White Plains International Food and Jazz Fest, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Mamaroneck & Martine avenues.

White Plains: NY Pet Reptile Expo

Where: Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave. in White Plains 

When: Sunday, Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cost: Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 7-12. Children under 7 enter for free. Pay at the door.

Description:Come see thousands of live pet reptiles and amphibians on display and for sale as pets.  Vendors will also be selling cages and many other reptile-related items at discounted prices. This is the East Coast's largest reptile event, with more than 250 vendor tables.  If you like reptiles, or are looking for a scaly new pet, this is the event for you.

Yorktown: The 89th Annual Grange Fair

When/Where: The Yorktown Grange Fair began on Thursday and will last until Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Yorktown Grange Fair Grounds on Moseman Road.

Description: The Grange Fair is all about showcasing local talent, whether it's raising the best rabbit, growing the biggest pumpkin, baking the tastiest pie, or knitting the best sweater. Local musicians also enjoy the spotlight as they perform live on the main stage.
