Town Accepts Flurry of Holiday Donations

Generous locals donate more than $12,000 to different town programs to kick-off the holiday season.

It looks like the season of giving has arrived in Harrison.

Supporting local programs ranging from holiday charities to the summer fireworks display, donors have gifted more than $12,000 to various town programs over the last two weeks.

The Harrison Town Board voted to accept the donations last week.

The largest beneficiary was the , which brings gifts, canned food and other necessities to local families in need during the holiday season. Donations totaled $4,665.

An anonymous resident also donated $4,000 for the town's fireworks display. Over the last few years the town has asked donors to support the annual Fourth of July fireworks display downtown, and the donation will be of great value this summer.

The Harrison Food Pantry, which supplies consistent support to hundreds of local families in need, also accepted a total of $3,375 from nine different donors.

Board members thanked all of those who contributed for their support.
