Donations Needed For Harrison Library Renovations

After nearly three decades, the Harrison Library is finally getting a makeover.

The $3.6 million project will include renovation of the adult area; soundproofing and doubling the size of the children's area from 1,600 to 3,200 square feet; transforming unused space into a Teen Center; adding 29 computers and modernizing a community room with better lighting and TV studio functionality.

In April, the town committed to a $1.1 million contribution to the project; the Library Foundation will work to come up with the approximately $1.2 million shortfall in funding. In addition to holding fundraising events, the Foundation is asking the community for donations on their website here.

Construction is expected to start in June of 2014.
