Con Ed: Some Power Outages Begin to Hit Lower Hudson Valley

Tropical storm Arthur could cause more power outages in Westchester County by the weekend.

As of 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, about 1,225 Westchester County residents were without power, according Con Edison, as thunderstorms quickly lashed the area.

The number of customers affected represents a small fraction of the more than 345,000 customers the utility serves in the region.

With thunderstorms dissipating in the area, the chance that that number could increase by much over the course of the evening was slim, in part because rain was slated to stop in many parts before 7:30 p.m.

According to AccuWeather.com, however, remnants of the tropical storm, named Arthur, are scheduled to hit the region on Thursday night and Friday. Localized flooding is expected.
