Finding Answers Means Asking the Right Questions

A quizzical view of political parties that I hope would spark the interest of those uninterested in politics and compel those who already are to try to answer the questionably unanswerable.

Does political affiliation really matter in local politics?

What does being Republican or Democrat have to do with adequate roads, or proper garbage disposal? Can either party truthfully claim to protect you from harm better than the other? Has either party really kept your property taxes low, or property value high? Why do both parties continually make the same claims against each other? Why do both parties continue to spend and borrow more than they can generate in revenue? Why is the political party a politician represents more important in modern politics than the ideas and ideals they possess? Are these obscure terms just a distraction from real issues? How can a two party system represent the beliefs of so many? Why do people vote based on promises and proposals, rather than previous voting records? Do third parties truly have a place in politics? Does going against your party mean risking political alienation? Are both parties’ just two sides to the same coin and what happens when that coin is no longer worth the material it’s made from? Do political parties control us, or do we control them?
