Frogs and Bugs to Help Jump Start Reading Program

The Harrison Library is hosting a children's summer reading game that will kick-off Saturday morning.

The Harrison Library's children's summer reading game will kick off this Saturday with a visit from Green Meadows Farm.

Children under 12 whose parents are interested in finding out more about the program are invited to enjoy a visit from the children's education group. Kids will have the chance to play with live bugs and other animals at the downtown library while sign them up for the library's reading game.

The kick off event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

The summer game rewards children for the reading they do while school is out. Participating children will receive a log to track their progress throughout the summer. For every 15 minutes spend reading, the students will receive a star that qualifies them for prizes that will be given out at the end of the game.

A raffle will be held on August 9 with surprises, refreshments and more. Until then, children can report their reading hours on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and Mondays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
