MLB Continues Mother's Day Tradition

Anyone who watched a Major League Baseball game yesterday may have realized something a little off with the player’s equipment. Rather then using the traditional brown or black Louisville Slugger baseball bats, players entered the batter’s box with a piece of pink lumber.

The bats are part of the MLB’s tradition to raise awareness for breast cancer and to raise funds to someday find a cure. The players started using pink bats in 2006 and yesterday players and other on field personnel wore pink ribbons and wristbands during games.

The game-used bats will be put on MLB.com and auctioned off with proceeds going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. Love you Mom.
