Local Rivals Hit the Diamond

The Top Spot:

Coming off a sweep of John Jay College that evened its record at 6-6, the Purchase College baseball team visits local rival Manhattanville today at 3:30 p.m.

The Panthers will then play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday against SUNY Cortland and St. Joseph’s Brooklyn at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison. Both games are set to start at noon. Third baseman Kevin McQuade of Mamaroneck drove in two runs in a 9-4 first-game win over John Jay. The Panthers completed the sweep with a 5-1 win in the second game.

College Sports Notebook:

Sean Kilpatrick of White Plains, top scorer on the Bearcats with nearly 15 points per-game, leads the University of Cincinnati basketball team against Texas on Friday night in a second-round game of the NCAA Championship at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. The Bearcats (24-10) are the No. 6 seed while the Big 12 Conference Longhorns (20-13) are a No. 11 seed. Florida State, No. 3, and No. 14 St. Bonaventure are the other two East Region teams in Nashville. The game can be seen today at 12:15 p.m. on CBS.
