Daily Sports Digest: Husky Volleyball Sets Sectional Date With Ursuline

Your interactive, daily digest for all Harrison scores, schedules and standings — and a place for you to add information and images for all of your favorite sports and teams.

While the high school playoffs are heating up around the area one local college athlete is setting the record book ablaze. Brenna White of Mercy College is a freshman on the school’s volleyball team and while other first year players are fighting for minutes and playing time, White has the opportunity to break a school and possibly an NCAA record.

Yesterday as White and the Mavericks defeated Molloy College in four sets the freshman recorded a career high of 31 kills, giving her more than 600 on the season. No Maverick has reached the mark in a decade, and already White ranks third all time in Mercy history for a single season. With games left on the schedule she could find herself with the all-time mark in no time.

White also leads all divisions in the NCAA with 611 kills on the year, and no freshman has ever finished the season with that distinction. Could make for a historical season for the Mercy freshman.
