Harrison Umpire to Call Regional Championships

After combing through more than 14,000 resumes and recommendations, the head of the Northeast region selects only 12 umpires to call the Little League 11-12 year-old girls regional championships in Bristol, CT.

This year Harrison's Noah Strone is one of those umpires.

“It's awesome, I feel very fortunate after doing it for so many years to get selected. It is actually the first time I submitted my resume," said Strone. "The honor is great, to get to do this at such a high level is an awesome feeling… My first time around and I am going straight to Bristol.”

Strone is currently an umpire in District 20 and a consultant for District 8, he has called games at every level of softball and baseball and he has been behind the plate for state championship games and the crew chief in tournament games.

Game: Harrison vs. Scarsdale

Score: Harrison Won 11-9

Highlights: Christina DeCarlo picked up the win after pitching seven innings and striking out two for Harrison. Allyson Brabant went 3-for-4 with four runs for Harrison. Rachel Halperin scored three times and went 2-for-4 for Scarsdale in the loss.

In baseball, Rye Neck heads to Harrison at 4:30 p.m.

In boys tennis, Mamaroneck heads to Harrison at 4 p.m.

In girls lacrosse, Blind Brook heads to Harrison at 4:30 p.m.

In softball, Harrison heads to Pearl River at 4:30 p.m.

College Sports Notebook:

  • Former Tappan Zee HS two-sport standout Ryan O’Rourke, a freshman at Springfield College, has made six appearances on the Pride’s baseball team, with three starts. O’Rourke is a catcher who is also utilized in the outfield. Springfield (14-12) meets Nichols College (6-14) in Dudley, MA, on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Freshman outfielder Brett Jackson of Larchmont, a Mamaroneck High alum, is batting .294 for Nichols in nine appearances, including five starting assignments.
  • Kevin McQuade of Mamaroneck had three hits for the Purchase College baseball team in the second game of a twin-bill swept by The College of Mount Saint Vincent, 8-4, 9-1. The Panthers (11-10) visit Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT, on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. McQuade is batting .329, third-best on the team, and has driven in 16 runs, second only to senior Frank Fiumara of Port Chester, who has 18 RBI.
