Daily Sports Digest: Class of 2012 Takes Second Straight Powder Puff Game

The United Way of Putnam and Westchester counties is hosting the third annual run united, a 5k run for health at Purchase College.

The Proceeds are to support initiatives to reduce childhood obesity, get healthy foods to low income families, and steer teens away from risky behaviors like drugs and alcohol. People of all ages are encouraged to participate.

According to the press release, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the Toddler Dash at 8:30, the 5K Run at 8:45 and the 1-Mile Run/Walk at 8:55 a.m.  A half-hour awards ceremony takes place from 10 – 10:30 a.m. Toddlers and 1-Mile participants will receive ribbons, and 5k runners can win awards in age and gender categories.

Yesterday Harrison’s athletes took part in the annual fall tradition that is the Powder Puff Game. Girls of the junior and senior classes took to the gridiron under the bright lights to battle for the school’s football supremacy.

Last year the class of thanks to a last second score by Alex Misisco to give the juniors the 12-6 win.

Harrison’s volleyball team resumes their quest for a state championship this weekend as they travel to Bard College for the regional finals. The Huskies will take on Cornwall at 12:30 p.m. Cornwall ended Harrison’s season last year in a 3-0 match.

Harrison Cheerleaders also return to competition and they will be at Somers High School at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Game: Seniors vs. Juniors

Score: Seniors Won 36-6

Highlights: This game got out of hand quickly thanks soccer teammates Izzy Scheck and Alex Misisco who had two touchdown runs each. Alyx Scapperotti and Emily Chestler also both scored.
