School Vote: Future Events and Things To Know

The Harrison Patch will have comprehensive coverage of everything you need to make a decision for the school district vote on May 18.

HARRISON - There is plenty to know before taking to the voting booths on May 18, when Harrison will be asked to vote on the 2010 - 2011 budget as well as fill two open seats on the Harrison School Board.

First, the budget. The Harrison Board of Education adopted its finalized budget last week. The Harrison Central School District has released a detailed budget that you can see for yourself here. The board appears confident in their budget despite a proposed 3.47 percent tax increase.

Second, the school board seats. Incumbent Abby Mendelsohn will run unopposed for her seat, while two newcomers will compete for  the other. Naomi Oppmann and Jason Schechter, the two candidates, will answer questions on Tuesday at 7:15 in the L.M.K. Middle School Cafeteria. The event will be hosted by the League of Women Voters.
