School Board Incumbents to Run Unopposed

Joan Tiburzi and Dennis Di Lorenzo will not face opposition as they seek new three-year terms on the Harrison Board of Education.

There will be no challengers on the ballot to face incumbents Joan Tiburzi and Dennis Di Lorenzo in this spring's board of education election.

The school district announced Wednesday that the two incumbents are the only candidates who filed paperwork by this week's deadline. They will both likely win new three-year terms in May.

Di Lorenzo is currently serving as president of the seven-member board. Tiburzi served president during the 2010-11 school year.

Last year's board of education race vying for three spots on the board. Incumbents Philip Silano, David Singer and Paul Curtis .

Yes this is sad. It's all controlled by the Friends of Harrison AKA Friends of Lou.

Then why doesn't anyone step up and run? Last election there were three people who were willing to take the risk. They came out too late but made a good showing. I expected them to make another attempt. Since no one did we will be stuck with these bobblehead puppets another term. The budget is also rediculus! Big deal they stayed below the 2% mandate. They should be forced to have a budget without any increase. All that would need to be done would be to stop the absurdity of renewing Lou Wools contract once a tyear with pay increases and stop the pay increases for the rest of the administrative staff.
