DiLorenzo Gets Second Term as BOE President

Dennis DiLorenzo, who won a new three-year term on the Harrison Board of Education this spring, will serve as board president for a second year.

Dennis DiLorenzo will serve a second year as president of the Harrison Board of Education.

The veteran board member was sworn in for a second one-year term at Wednesday night's meeting at LMK Middle School. Abby Mendelsohn will serve as vice president of the board, the same position she held last year.

"I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues to continue leading the Harrison Board of Education for a second term," DiLorenzo said in an e-mail. "As a Board we will continue to ensure that every student served by the HCSD is challenged, given opportunities, and learns in a healthy and safe environment even in the face of the significant legislative and financial challenges ahead of us."

Joan Tiburzi who, along with DiLorenzo,  a seat on the Harrison Board of Education this spring, was also sworn into a new three-year term. Both candidates were incumbents who ran unopposed.

The board of education votes on new leadership positions every summer. The decision to keep DiLorenzo and Mendelsohn in the same leadership positions means there will be no changes on the board moving into the 2012-13 school year.
