Harrison Hosts Fulton Invitational, Forgione Pitches No-Hitter

The Top Spot:

Harrison High School hosted the annual Fulton Invitational yesterday and six teams competed in track and field events. Bronxville, Harrison, New Rochelle, Scarsdale and Somers all sent boys and girls teams to Harrison High School for the tournament named after Harrison’s former coach Dennis Fulton.

On the boys side Somers and New Rochelle tied with a score of 90 for first place and Scarsdale finished in third with 87 points. The Huskies finished in fourth with 85.

New Rochelle dominated on the girls side, finishing first with 130. Bronxville finished second with 98 points and Harrison finished third with 89.

Harrison’s Rula Samad finished first in the triple jump and Hannah Hochman won the 200-meter dash for the Husky girls team.

Trey Wasilesky won the 1600-meter run, Sebastian Cortes picked up a victory in the 400-meter hurdles and Ben Konigsberg won the 200-meter dash.

Sport: Baseball

Game: Harrison vs. Pleasantville

Score: Harrison Won 4-1

Highlights: Senior Michael Forgione pitched a no hitter on the road, tossing all seven innings and striking out 10. Forgione allowed four batters to reach base and Pleasantville’s Anthony Godino scored the team’s only run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.

Sport: Golf

Game: Harrison vs. Rye

Score: Harrison Won 197-211

Sport: Softball

Game: Westlake vs. Harrison

Score: Harrison Won 13-2

Highlights: Christina DeCarlo pitched five innings and struck out seven as she picked up the win for the Huskies. Alijah Webb led the Husky offense as she went 3-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs in the victory.

In boys lacrosse, Harrison heads to Pleasantville at 4:30 p.m.

College Sports Notebook:

  • Manhattanville College attacker Casandra Honovich of Cortlandt Manor scored 17 goals with two assists in two games and was named the Freedom Conference women’s lacrosse player of the week. The Valiants (3-9) visit King’s College (8-5) in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on Saturday at 1 p.m. Kelly Murray of Shrub Oak is a junior defender for the Valiants.
  • Earlier in the week Manhattanville College announced its nominees in ten categories for the school's annual awards banquet on the athletics website. This year’s banquet will be held April 30.
  • Tuesday afternoon Purchase College and the College of New Rochelle squared off for a double-dip in Purchase. The Panthers dominated the Blue Angels in both games and won 12-0 and 12-0 to improve to 8-16 on the year. Alyse LaPadula of New Rochelle had an inside the park two run home run in the second game for the Panthers.
