A New Way to Communicate For HCSD

Harrison Central School District launched some major changes to its website this week.

A single keystroke can translate to more than a dozen languages or organize information from any of Harrison's six schools.

The Harrison Central School District's new website launched on Monday. School officials say it is the first of several versions of the site, which promises to give more up-to-date information to parents and students throughout the year.

"It speaks to our mission of transparency," said Harrison Superintendent Louis Wool, as the district presented the new site publicly at a school board meeting Wednesday night.

Michael Haur, an on-staff I.T. specialist with the district worked with Monica Miles, the district's communications officer, to develop the site. It promises to streamline information by keeping a consistent look between the websites for each of the district's six school websites, as well as offer access to each school to upload relevant content on a more frequent basis.

A new calendar feature also allows parents to organize information by school and print out up-to-date lists of events.

Bottom line: the district is hoping for a more relevant, timely, place for the community to find information.

"It gives individual schools the ability to get out information in a timely way," said Wool.
