PURCHASE DANCE COMPANY PRESENTS THE NUTCRACKER

To herald the holiday season, the Purchase Dance Company will present a spectacular production of The Nutcracker ballet Dec. 13-15, 2013 at the Performing Arts Center (735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, NY).

Purchase College’s 20th annual production of the world’s favorite holiday ballet is a multigenerational treat with delightful sets and costumes—plus a dazzling cast of hundreds of talented young people.

The production features a sparkling array of talent: all 138 undergraduate dance majors from the acclaimed Purchase College Conservatory of Dance and an equal number of children from the Westchester and Fairfield County communities. This year, the lead roles of Clara and Fritz will be danced by children, enhancing the ballet’s authenticity and charm.

“Participating in the Purchase College Nutcracker gives our children from the community a unique opportunity to learn from distinguished faculty and guest choreographers,” says Wallie Wolfgruber, Director of the School of the Arts Conservatory of Dance, Purchase College-SUNY. “They also have the exciting experience of performing alongside talented dance majors in our renowned Performing Arts Center.” She adds that some children who gained performing experience in Purchase’s Nutcracker have gone on to professional roles – including the current star of Broadway’s Matilda.

The Nutcracker performances will be held: Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 pm; Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1:00 pm and 7:30 pm; and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Tickets are $55/$45/$30 (parking fee included in price). For tickets, please visit www.artscenter.org or call 914.251.6200.
