Auditions for Children Interested in Performing in Nutcracker Being Held at Purchase College, SUNY on September 7

Purchase, NY, August 29, 2013 -- Westchester and Fairfield county children who have dreamed of dancing to Tchaikovsky in The Nutcracker on the big stage of The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College may soon have that chance.

The internationally-known Conservatory of Dance, within The School of the Arts at Purchase College, SUNY, is holding auditions for children 5-13 on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Dance Building on the Purchase College campus.

The Nutcracker
will be performed at Purchase College December 13-15, 2013.  The production is a creative collaboration of faculty and internationally-known guest choreographers, as well as Conservatory dancers and more than 130 children from the community.

“We welcome all boys and girls between the age of 5-13 who have a talent for movement and a joy for performing,” says Wallie Wolfgruber, Director of the Conservatory of Dance.  She notes there is one caveat about size: dancers should not be taller than five feet.

Auditions will be held in Purchase College’s Dance Building from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.  For details on schedules and selecting an audition time visit www.purchase.edu/dance or call 914-251-6803.
