Harrison Trick-or-Treating Postponed

With hanging tree branches and power outages creating new obstacles for trick-or-treaters, parents are being asked to hold off their holiday enthusiasm until Nov. 9.

It wouldn't make sense for the "Frankenstorm" to leave the area before having an impact on Halloween.

Harrison has postponed trick-or-treating until Friday, Nov. 9, because of the still dangerous conditions throughout Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase. Harrison Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont made the announcement Wednesday mornings after touring the damage Tuesday night.

He said hanging tree limbs, dark streets and continued power outages will make the Halloween tradition too dangerous Wednesday night.

Belmont had originally asked parents to use discretion when heading out Wednesday night, but later decided it was best to push trick-or-treating off until next week.
