Lowey Continues Push for Sandy Aid to Region

Congresswoman Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland) to hold a press conference on Tuesday to sum up FEMA grants to region, efforts for additional grants, and plans to make region more resilient to natural disasters.

It has been eight months since superstorm Sandy and both Westchester and Rockland Counties have received tens of millions in FEMA public assistance grants according to a release from Congresswoman Nita Lowey, (D-Westchester/Rockland).

Lowey will use the occasion of a scheduled press conference Tuesday, July 2nd, in Piermont to announce the total total FEMA public assistance funds for Westchester and Rockland Sandy relief, as well as review efforts to make region more resilient to natural disasters.

Last January Lowey asked Congress for quick passage of emergency disaster relief.  Recently, Lowey announced two Sandy help Centers designed for Westchester homeowners and businesses affected by Sandy.

Joining Lowey at Tuesday's press conference at 11:30am in Piermont's Parelli Park will be Piermont Mayor Chris Sanders and Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart.
