Harrison Graduates Earn Achievement Awards

The class of 2012 can add another accomplishment to its long list of success stories.

The resumes of Cayla Pettinato and Kyle Martino are almost too long to read out loud.

As Harrison Mayor/Supervisor thumbed through the accomplishments of the two recent Harrison graduates Thursday night he paused, looked at the second page, and remarked, "this is really quite a resume".

But that's part of the reason why the two members of the class of 2012 were selected for the town's achievement awards.

Pettinato, who will attend Stanford University in the fall, has been a leader of the HHS Footlight Players, taking the lead role in several high school performances. She is also a National Honor Society Member, AP Scholar and Summa Cum Laude graduate.

Martino's list of accomplishments includes being ranked the eighth best squash player under 19 years of age in the United States, National Honor Society Member, AP Scholar and Summa Cum Laude graduate. He will attend Dartmouth University in the fall.

Both students were honored for their accomplishments with a brief ceremony before the Harrison Town Board meeting last week.
