Harrison Dems Endorse Buchwald For Assembly

White Plains Common Council member David Buchwald and candidate Jeremiah Frei-Pearson addressed the Harrison Democratic Committee late last week.

The Harrison Democratic Committee has voted to endorse White Plains Common Council member David Buchwald as candidate for the 89th Assembly District seat currently occupied by Republican incumbent Bob Castelli.

Two Democratic candidates, Jeremiah Frei-Pearson and Buchwald, addressed Harrison district leaders at a recent meeting to make their case for the committee’ssupport. Both men are competing for the opportunity to challenge Castellli in the November election.

“Democrats are fortunate to have two excellent candidates with the education and experience necessary to compete. It was a difficult choice because both are so qualifiedto serve the 89th Assembly District,” Committee Chair Joe Derwin said. “The committee feels David has the experience, will campaign hard, has shown he can get the voters out, and has the capacity to retake the seat. He will be a fine representative in Albany for the assembly district.”

Buchwald has served on the White Plains Common Council since 2010, and works at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, LLP. Besides a law degree from Harvard, he also holds a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy Schoolof Government.
