Gotte Named to Purchase Fire Commissioner Board

Martin Gotte, of Old Lake Street will replace Richard Canter as one of the Purchase Fire Department's five commissioners.

The Purchase Fire Department has selected Martin Gotte as the newest member of its five-member board of commissioners.

Gotte will replace Richard Canter, who resigned from his post on the board in January. The Harrison Town Board approved Gotte during Thursday evening's public meeting.

The Purchase Fire Department is operated by five elected commissioners as well as a secretary and treasurer appointed annually by the board. The other four current fire commissioners in Purchase are Joseph Brefere, Joseph Delfico, Robert Makowski and Albert Mignone.

A fully volunteer organization, the department responded to 523 incidents in 2011, according to the department's website.
