For those staying in town this long weekend, on Friday, July 5, Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont will be holding an informal meet and greet with the public called "Lunch with the Mayor" at the Land and Sea Restaurant on 307 Halstead Ave. from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. to discuss community issues.
Inspired by previous mayors who utilized public hearings and other town hall initiatives to draw in constituents and hear their concerns, Belmont has held his weekly lunches at locations in downtown Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase since 2012.
Though the lunches can be a hit or miss, Belmont previously told Patch that most people come to air grievances concerning their home or neighborhood. Less common are complaints involving the town administration or government.
