Democrats Place West Harrison's Jaffe on Assembly Ballot

Harrison's Mark Jaffe will appear on the democratic primary ballot for New York State Assembly.

Mark Jaffe has filled the required number of petitions and will appear on the democratic primary ballot for 89th district in the New York State Assembly.

Jaffe, a West Harrison resident, will run against White Plains Common Council President Thomas Roach in this September's primary. The winner of that election will look to unseat Robert Castelli (R-Goldens Bridge) who announced this week that he will seek a full 2-year term after winning a February special election over Westchester County Legislator Peter Harckham (D-Katonah).

The current president and CEO of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, Jaffe said that he is running to combat increased taxes and overspending. He is also looking for a more transparent government, affordable education and improved public safety, according to a press release.

"My experience and background have groomed me to serve in these difficult times - to advocate for the taxpayer. Much of my life has been dedicated to cutting wasteful spending in public service, cutting out efficiencies and I know how to build the necessary strong coalitions that get things done," Jaffe said in a press release.

The 89th district encompasses White Plains, Harrison, New Castle, Mt. Kisco, Bedford, Lewisboro and Pound Ridge. The democratic primary will take place on September 14.
