Cohen, Oppenheimer Debate in Race for State Senate Seat
Public forum provides residents with opportunity to ask candidates important questions.
Candidates for the 37th District Senate seat, incumbent Senator Suzi Oppenheimer (Democrat) and challenger Bob Cohen (Republican), closed out the night with a heated debate over redistricting, SUNY reform and fiscal responsibility.
The 37th N.Y. senate district serves New Castle, Briarcliff Manor, Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, New Rochelle, North Castle, Ossining, Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook, Scarsdale and White Plains.
The debate was organized by the League of Women Voters of New Castle to provide an outlet for the community and the candidates to convene together. Rather than questions being asked through a moderator, citizens were invited to raise their concerns in the public forum.
