Brakewood, Gelfarb to Take Voter Questions at Forum

The forum is scheduled for Oct. 21 at Port Chester High School and is sponsored by the local League of Women Voters.

Now that local Democrats have their nominee for county legislator, it's on to the general election.

The retirement of long-time County Legislator Marty Rogowsky leaves an open seat. , a Rye Town councilman, and , a Port Chester trustee, both look to replace Rogowsky when voters head to the polls in November.

Next month, local voters will get a chance to quiz the candidates before they cast their ballots.

Gelfarb and Brakewood will meet with voters on Oct. 21, when the local League of Women Voters hosts a candidate forum at Port Chester High School. Like other forums sponsored by the League, the forum will follow a question-and-answer format for a more direct dialogue with voters instead of a standard political debate.

The county's District 6 includes Port Chester, Rye Brook and Harrison, and the candidate who wins in November will answer to tens of thousands of constituents.

Gelfarb ran unopposed in last week's primary, and after a as the Board of Elections tallied votes, Brakewood earned his party's nomination with a win over opponent of Harrison.

The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be held in Room 229 at Port Chester High School.
