5 Districts Remaining, Brakewood Optimistic
Port Chester Village Trustee Daniel Brakewood is holding a lead over West Harrison's Mark Jaffe in the Democratic primary for the District 6 seat in the County Legislature.
- With a 90-vote lead and 87 percent of districts reporting, Brakewood says he's "cautiously optimistic."
Vote tallies for tonight's primary races began trickling in at 9:30 p.m.
One race to watch tonight is between Port Chester Trustee Daniel Brakewood and Harrison attorney Mark Jaffe, both Democrat are in the race for the Westchester County legislature's District 6 seat.
The winner will go on to face a Republican opponent, likely Rye Town Councilman David Gelfarb. The District 6 seat is up for grabs after longtime county Legislator Marty Rogowsky announced he'll retire at the end of the year.

Local reports for today's primaries. In the District 6 race, fewer than 500 votes were counted as of 10:15 p.m., despite a tally that includes 64 percent of districts.
Polls opened this morning at 6 a.m. and closed at 9 p.m.

Update, 9:34 p.m.: Only a dozen votes have been counted. Stay tuned for updates.
Update, 9:40 p.m.: 150 votes have been counted so far; Jaffe 76, Brakewood 74.
Update, 9:47 p.m.: Brakewood 133, Jaffe 88.
Update, 9:56 p.m. Not much change with less than 300 votes counted so far. Total vote tally could be as few as 1,200, so candidates will be watching closely as ballots slowly trickle in.
Update, 10:17 p.m.: Brakewood has a 58-vote lead with 64 percent of districts reporting.
Update, 10:30 p.m.: Brakewood has opened up a lead of almost 100 votes, with only 10 districts yet to be tallied.
Update, 10:53 p.m.: With a 90-vote lead and only five districts remaining, Brakewood says he's "cautiously optimistic."
