Woman Suspected of Killing Her Daughter Attempts Suicide For Second Time

Stacey Pagli is "alert and responsive" after an attempted suicide Thursday morning. Pagli has been been charged with the murder of her 18-year-old daughter.

Stacey Pagli was taken to Westchester County Medical Center after a failed suicide attempt Thursday morning, confirmed a county spokesperson.  It is the second time she has attempted to end her own life since her daughter's death on Monday.

Stacey Pagli, 37, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Marissa Pagli, her daughter.  She was placed under suicide watch during her arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

"It appears she did (try to kill herself)," said Donna Greene, a spokesperson for the county.  "A corrections officer noticed socks around her neck."

"I'm not clear whether she was trying to put herself up," she said.  "I don't think she could have."

Stacey Pagli was arrested Wednesday morning and is being held without bail.  She is due in court Tuesday morning.

Marissa Pagli, a 2009 graduate of Harrison High School, was found in a bedroom of the family's Manhattanville College apartment at 12:20 Monday afternoon.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  Harrison Police believe Stacey Pagli strangled her daughter and then attempted to kill herself.

Stacey Pagli is expected to be returned to her cell at some point today.
