Woman Hospitalized After I-684 Rollover

A woman had to be pulled from her vehicle and was rushed to Westchester Medical Center following a single car accident on Interstate-684 in Purchase Wednesday afternoon, fire officials say.

The single-car accident happened at about 2:20 p.m. when a gray Ford Explorer flipped on its side while traveling southbound near mile-marker 2.3, said Purchase Fire Chief Joe Brefere Jr.

The Purchase and West Harrison Fire Departments worked with Harrison EMS workers to pull the woman from the rear tailgate upon arrival, Brefere said. She was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A male passenger was able to get out of the vehicle before emergency responders arrived. He was also taken to the hospital with only minor injuries, Brefere said.

Authorities haven't determined a cause at this point.

The scene was cleared by about 3 p.m.
