Video: Strong Winds Reach Area, More Expected

The first strong winds from Hurricane Sandy reached Harrison Monday afternoon.

The worst is yet to come, but strong winds were already affecting Harrison residents by 2 p.m. Monday.

Harrison residents are urged to stay inside through the night until at least Tuesday as strong winds are expected to reach the area. Debris was beginning to build on the town's major roads early in the afternoon.

Update: 5:30 p.m.

Residents are being encouraged to fill pots and containers with water in case Westchester Joint Waterworks loses power during the storm.

Harrison Town Court is cancelled for Tuesday, Oct. 30.

There will be no sanitation pickup on Oct. 30.

Residents are urged to stay indoors Monday night into Tuesday.
