Two Mount Vernon Residents Arrested On Grand Larceny Charges

Two 28-year-old men arrested Sunday evening for stealing almost $1,9000 worth of hats from Lord & Taylor

Clarkstown Police report they arrested Charles Moye, 28, and Emanuel Acheampong, 28, on charges of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property worth almost $1,900 on Sunday evening.  The two Mount Vernon were arrested at 7:30 p.m. for stealing from Lord & Taylor at the Palisades Mall after being caught near Dunkin Donuts.

A security guard reported watching the two men and seeing Moye place about 45 hats worth $1,890 inside a bag he was carrying.  Acheampong reportedly exited the store first using a rear corridor to leave the mall.  Moye then followed with the unpaid merchandise and got into a waiting white Ford pickup truck driven by Acheampong.

When Clarkstown Police stopped the pickup in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot, Moye got out of the car and began to run. A police dog found Moye and the items from the store.  Acheampong was arrested at the scene.

Moye and Acheampong were taken to police headquarters and both were charged with fourth degree grand larceny and fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.  Moye was ordered held without bail and Acheampong was issued $2,500 bail.  Both are due back in court on Dec. 5.

Not the best planners when it comes to stealing I see. And one gets out at Dunkin Donuts and runs ? Smart. Your fellow inmates should be yucking it up about now.

Palisades Mall...helping felons succeed since its opening. Taxpayers, not so much.
