Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charge on Calvert St.

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Harrison woman faces a misdemeanor charge after police say they found crack-cocaine and cocaine in her vehicle during a traffic stop on Calvert Street.

Donna Williams, 54, of 38 Avondale Rd., was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree. A Harrison Police officer stopped Williams at about 9:46 p.m. on Aug. 14 after Williams failed to yield while turning from Broadway onto Calvert St., according to an arrest report.

The officer reports spotting a glass stem containing crack-cocaine and several small plastic bags containing what he believed to be cocaine in Williams' pocketbook.

Police arrested Williams at the scene. A search of the vehicle yielded a small Ziploc back of what police believe to be cocaine on the vehicle's floor, police say.

Williams was also cited for a traffic violation. She was processed at police headquarters and released without bail.
