Tractor Trailer Cleared From I-95 in Harrison

A tractor trailer ran through a guard rail on Interstate 95 in Harrison Thursday afternoon, leaving traffic at a near standstill.

A tractor trailer plowed through a guard rail and crashed into a wooded area along southbound Interstate 95 this morning, temporarily closing all three lanes in that direction and backing up traffic for hours.

The accident took place a few feet north of the West Street overpass in Harrison at 11:40 a.m. It followed another accident about a mile down the interstate in Mamaroneck that occurred less than five minutes earlier, state police say.

The tractor trailer went off the right shoulder and up a short hill, stopping a few feet into a wooded area near the highway. Traffic in all southbound lanes was stopped for about 50 minutes as authorities tended to the scene. The driver walked away from the accident and was unharmed, authorities said.
