Suspicious Baggage Briefly Closes Westchester County Airport Terminal

Suspicious baggage closes main terminal for less than an hour.

The Westchester County Airport's main terminal was briefly closed this morning because of suspicious baggage found at a security checkpoint. The county police bomb squad was dispatched to investigate.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. the Transportation Security Administration personnel were screening a baggage when they saw something suspicious, County Police Spokesperson Kieran O'Leary said. The TSA weren't comfortable opening the bag, so they called county police.

The person was detained by police until the situation is resolved.

Police couldn't release information about the person or a description of the baggage.

All other terminals were kept open, except for the main terminal, where planes were permitted to land, but no passengers could get off.
