Westchester County Police closed the airport's main entryway just beyond the Rye Lake intersection for about two hours. A bomb squad was sent in to clear the scene.

"I want to thank the two women for their vigilance,” Westchester Public Safety Commissioner George Longworth said in a statement. “This incident turned out to be a false alarm, but this kind of reaction is how we keep the public safe.”
