State troopers based at the Somers barracks were out in force on Interstate 684 Thursday waging a crackdown on speeders.
The results: Troopers issued 48 tickets, mostly for speeding.
State Police ran the special speed limit enforcement effort from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Troopers said their goal with such efforts is to reduce highway deaths and injuries as well as property damage that comes with auto accidents.
