Sparking Wires Close Part of North Street
Consolidated Edison workers responded to the scene.
North Street was closed for about 20 minutes from Stratford Road to Muchmore Road as Consolidated Edison officials responded to a smoking wire in the area.
Authorities killed power to the wire, which was threatening to light a nearby pile of leaves on fire. The wire was repaired within about 20 minutes and there was no visible fire in the area.
The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Traffic was backed up slightly in the area in both directions. Cars were diverted into the nearby trails neighborhoods to bypass the affected area.
