Rollover on Westchester Ave. Leads to 2 Arrests

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A rollover accident on Westchester Avenue led to driving while ability impaired charges for a Connecticutt man after police say he had been smoking marijuana earlier that day.

Police responded to westbound Westchester Avenue on June 14 at about 6:15 p.m. and found a vehicle up-side down in a ditch near the entrance ramp from the Hutchinson River Parkway. After helping the two occupants out of the vehicle, police smelled marijuana and asked the two if they had been smoking earlier in the day.

Police say the driver, 47-year-old Alfred Crego, of 27 Nashauena Avenue, West Haven, CT. admitted that he and the passenger had smoked marijuana about two hours earlier. Once the car was removed from the ditch, police found a small glass jar containing about an 1/8 oz. of marijuana, two glass pipes and a small tin with approximately 10 burnt marijuana cigarettes inside.

The passenger was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana, Crego was asked to perform a field sobriety test. Police say Crego failed the test and he was arrested and charged.

Crego was released on $250 cash bail and is due in court June 28.
