A two-vehicle accident sent one woman to the hospital and closed part of Anderson Hill Road in Purchase for more than an hour Wednesday morning.
A large rolloff truck rear-ended a Hyundai Santa Fe near Glen Park Road at about 11:30 a.m, said West Harrison Assistant Fire Chief Michael Pellegrino. Authorities believe the woman driving the Santa Fe—who is eight to nine months pregnant—stopped suddenly while traveling eastbound and the truck rear-ended her while swerving to avoid an accident.
The woman was rushed to White Plains Hospital with minor neck, back and stomach pains. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The truck then hit a guardrail, leaking a small amount of diesel fuel and prompting a response from New York State Environmental Conservation officials.
Anderson Hill Road was closed from Scott Circle to Century Ridge Road while the scene was cleared. Traffic was diverted into surrounding residential neighborhoods during that time.
The truck was damaged slightly and had to be towed from the scene. Pellegrino said the Santa Fe was totaled.
The and as well as responded to the scene.
