Yonkers Man Accused of DWI on Mamaroneck Ave.

The following arrest report was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Yonkers man faces driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession charges after police say they found the man drunk and high while driving on Mamaroneck Avenue in Harrison.

Kwabena Afriyie, 23, was pulled over at about 2 a.m. on October 7. Police say they smelled marijuana and alcohol in the vehicle and asked Afriyie to perform a field sobriety test.

After the test, police determined Afriyie was under the influence of alcohol and, smelling marijuana in the vehicle, asked if Afriyie had been smoking earlier in the night. According to his arrest report, Afriyie admitted he had been smoking marijuana and police found a half-smoked marijuana cigarette in the vehicle.

Afriyie was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as unlawful possession of marijuana. He is due in Harrison Court on October 17.

On October 3, Harrison police cited a 47-year-old Connecticut man with unlawful possession of marijuana after they say he was spotted smoking a marijuana cigarette on Halstead Avenue.

Police also cited a 23-year-old Harrison man for unlawful possession of marijuana on October 4, after police say they found marijuana and a pipe in the center console of the man's vehicle during a traffic stop.
