Police: White Plains Men Caught With 17 Bags of Marijuana in West Harrison

Stephen McCarrick, 20, and Paul Stuetz, 34, were arrested on March 25.

Two White Plains men face drug possession charges after police say they were caught carrying several bags of marijuana, a scale and cocaine in their vehicle during a traffic stop at 125 Lake Street on March 25.

Harrison Police stopped Paul Stuetz, 34, of White Plains, at 7:11 p.m. after noticing a loose license plate on his vehicle. During the stop police reported a strong smell of marijuana and asked Stuetz to step out of his vehicle. Stephen McCarrick, 20, also of White Plains, was in the passenger seat and was also asked to step out of the vehicle.

Stuetz handed police a glass jar of marijuana and said it was his, he was arrested at that time. While speaking to McCarrick, police noticed a bag in his wallet containing a white powdery substance. McCarrick admitted to police that the bag contained cocaine and said he forgot it was there, according to police. He was also arrested at that time.

During a search of the vehicle police say they found a backpack containing several large bags of marijuana. Police also found a scale and a notebook. In total, police confiscated 17 large bags of marijuana, four bags of marijuana cookies, one scale and a small bag of cocaine, according to the case report.

Both suspects were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Police charged McCarrick with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Tarrytown Man, 18, Caught With Marijuana, Police Say

Police arrested an 18-year-old Tarrytown man on March 30 after they say he had a marijuana cigarette in his vehicle when he passed a traffic safety checkpoint on Westchester Avenue.

Police report smelling marijuana inside the vehicle at about 8:51 p.m. and asking the man to pull to the side of the road. The driver allowed police to search the vehicle, where they found a marijuana cigarette between the driver's seat and center console. 

The driver was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of marijuana and later released at the scene. He is due in court on April 12.

Criminal Mischief Reported on Halstead Avenue

Black graffiti was painted on a storefront at 295 Halstead Avenue between 9:15 p.m. on March 21 and 9 a.m. on March 22. Police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Rye Man Arrested, Charged With Bail Jumping

Harrison Police arrested a Rye man on March 24, after finding a warrant out for his arrest during a traffic stop.

Police stopped Derrick Nixon, 49, after noticing his vehicle had a broken exhaust pipe. While speaking with the suspect a computer check revealed a warrant out for Nixon's arrest. He was arrested at the scene and charged with third degree bail jumping.

Nixon was later released on $150 cash bail.
