Police: Swerving Driver Arrested For DWI

Harrison police say Michelle Rivera was driving on the wrong side of the road before she was arrested on May 1 for driving while intoxicated.

A Connecticut woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after police say she was drunk and driving on the wrong side of the road in the early morning hours of May 1.

Police say Michelle Rivera, 28, had to swerve to avoid on oncoming police car on Kenilworth Road at about 3: 15 a.m. After police pulled her over, they say there was a strong smell of alcohol coming from the woman's vehicle.

Rivera agreed to a field sobriety test, which police say she failed, and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Police say a chemical test revealed Rivera's blood-alcohol content to be .18 percent—more than twice the legal limit to drive in New York State.
