Police: Pot, Alcohol Found in Vehicle During Traffic Stop

This week Harrison police report stolen traffic signs and a marijuana possession arrest.

Police say they found beer and marijuana in a vehicle after a traffic stop of Webster Avenue on May 11. The beer belonged to a 17-year-old Harrison student, police say.

After a traffic stop at 7:20 p.m. the officer at the scene reports he noticed two of four men in the vehicle appear to be hiding something. While searching the vehicle's occupants police say they found marijuana hidden in the pants of a 23-year-old New Rochelle man. He was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana and transported to police headquarters.

During a further search of the vehicle police found a backpack containing three 16 oz. cans of beer. A 17-year-old Harrison student admitted the beer belonged to him, police say, and was arrested for unlawful possession of alcohol.

The driver, a 19-year-old Larchmont man, didn't have a valid driver's license. Police cited him for driving with a suspended license.

Police say the fourth passanger had no drugs or alcohol on his person and he was released without charges.

Police determined that the New Rochelle man had an active bench warrant out of White Plains. He was released the the White Plains police department with a return date to Harrison court of May 31 to answer to the marijuana possession charges.

The 17-year-old was processed and released, he is due in court on May 31.

Missing Street Signs

On May 12 Harrison police discovered that someone had removed the street signs at Columbus Avenue and Daniel Street. The area was canvased for the missing signs but they were not found.

Also on May 12 police discovered that signs were missing from Harrison Street and Woodside Avenue. The missing signs were not found in the area.
