Police: Man Uses Fake License During Traffic Stop, Domestic Dispute Leads to Charges

The following arrests reports were provided by the Harrison Police Department, they do not indicate a conviction.

A fake driver's license used during a traffic stop led to a felony forgery charge against a New Rochelle man, police say.

Manuel Castillo, 34, tried to use a license that wasn't his on Aug. 19 after his own license was surrendered, police say. Castillo, of 70 Rockdale Ave., was stopped by police because of a broken stop light along Westchester Avenue at about 4:30 p.m.

During the traffic stop Castillo handed police a Washington driver's license that did not match any records in the police system. After police questioned the validity of the license, Castillo told police he had flown to Washington and paid $1,000 for a license that he obtained from a man there, police say.

Castillo said he did not know the name of the man who sold him the license. A computer check later revealed Castillo's New York driver's license had been surrendered.

Castillo was charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

Traffic Accident Leads to DWI Charge

A Peekskill man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police say he fell asleep while driving on Westchester Avenue and crashed into a guard rail.

Wilmer Patino, 35, was near his vehicle in a grassy area when police arrived at the accident scene at about 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 21. A passenger in the vehicle had to be taken to Westchester Medical Center.

Police report smelling alcohol on Patino's breath at the scene. Patino, of 113 Pine Street, agreed to a field sobriety test, which police say he failed. Patino was arrested at the scene and charged with driving while intoxicated. A blood-alcohol test performed at police headquarters showed a BAC of .14 percent—the legal limit in New York is .08.

Patino was processed and released on $1,000 cash bail.

Man Caught Fleeing a From Port Chester Police, Police Say

A Connecticut man who committed a strong-arm robbery in Port Chester was caught by Harrison Police after he took a train from the scene of his crime into Harrison, police say.

Officers spotted Andre Williams, 45, at the Harrison train platform at about 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 21. Harrison Police had heard that Port Chester Police were looking for a man fitting his description in connection with a purse snatching a few minutes earlier. The suspect had boarded a train heading toward Harrison.

Police spoke with Williams, of Bridgeport, CT., who was acting nervous and fidgety, police say. Williams was detained at the scene. The victim later identified Williams. Police also found four blank checks in Williams' pocket, which belonged to the victim, as well as credit cards that belonged to the victim.

Williams was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree—a felony. 

Police Charge Harrison Man With Disorderly Conduct

A Crotona Avenue man was charged with disorderly conduct after police say he wouldn't leave the area following a dispute with an ex-girlfriend.

Daniel Davila, 20, was arguing with a woman on Nelson Avenue at about 4:55 a.m. on Aug. 27, police say. The woman involved in the dispute told police she did not want to pursue charges against Davila.

But, according to police Davila, of 100 Crotona Ave., refused to leave the area following the dispute. After Davila refused to stop trying to communicate with the woman at the scene, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to police headquarters.
