Police: Man Steals From CVS, Caught Later Carrying Heroin

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Port Chester man witnesses say stole several designer bottles of cologne and perfume from CVS was later caught by police at the Harrison train station carrying heroin, arrest reports say.

A store manager at called police after seeing a man run out of the back of the store with a large bag at about 6:15 p.m. on March 28. According to arrest reports, police found Darryl Tarver, 49, at the Harrison train station moments later wearing clothes fitting the description provided by the manager.

While speaking with Tarver, police found a large bag containing several cologne and perfume bottles in a garbage can a few feet away. At that point, police say Tarver admitted to stealing the bottles from CVS. He was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

While searching Tarver's belongings police say they also found a yellow straw with white residue on it and a small folded white wax paper containing a white powder. Tarver admitted to police that the powder was heroin, police say.

Tarver, of 45 Traverse Ave., was then charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
