Police: Man Caught Stealing Twice in Two Days

Kent Frasier, 50, was caught stealing cigarettes from CVS and identified as the man involved in another theft earlier last week, police say.

A Port Chester man faces a grand larceny charge after police say he tried — and failed — to steal from two businesses on Halstead Avenue in two days.

On March 1, at about 2 p.m., a CVS store manager told police he caught Kent Frasier, 50, behind the counter of the store at 270 Halstead Avenue. The manager said Frasier was stuffing cartons of cigarettes into a laundry bag when the manager yelled for him to stop.

After Frasier was spotted, the manager said the suspect ran from the store with the cigarettes. Two store employees then chased Frasier and stopped him nearby until police arrived.

In total police say Frasier ran off with 12 cartons of Morlboro Lights and two packs of Kool cigarettes. The total value of the allegedly stolen smokes was $1,146, which was enough for police to charge Frasier with grand larceny.

He was arrested at the scene and transported to White Plains hospital after he asked to be treated for a rash on his eye. He was released to the hospital without bail.

But police say Frasier wasn't done. The next day at 3 p.m. a man fitting Frasier's description walked into Tratta's Pharmacy at 15 Halstead Avenue and stole 13 bottles of Pepto Bismol valued at $130.

The pharmacy's owner chased the man police now believe was Frasier down the street and retrieved the merchandise. The store's manager said the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle before police arrived.

On March 4, Frasier returned to police headquarters to retrieve personal property taken as evidence from the first alleged theft. At that time police placed him under arrest for the second theft, after identifying him using video surveillance.

Police say Frasier struggled briefly and tried to escape, but was eventually handcuffed and charged with petit larceny.

He is due in Harrison court March 15.
