Police: Man Accused of Hiding Cocaine in Pen

The following arrest information was provided by the Harrison Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

A man Harrison Police say was staggering along Bowman Ave. last week was arrested after police say he was carrying cocaine and unauthorized prescription pills.

Officers noticed 41-year-old Harry Hoffner of Tarrytown at about 2:18 p.m. on August 1 as he walked over the Interstate 287 overpass. Police say Hoffner reached into his pocket and threw something over the bridge, prompting them to stop and investigate.

Police say Hoffner was acting nervous and appeared to be under the influence of some type of narcotic. Police searched Hoffner and found a prescription pill and a hollowed pen tube containing a white powdery substance police believe to be cocaine.

Police charged Hoffner, of 1428 Cresent Dr., with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh-degree, a misdemeanor. He was processed at police headquarters and released on $100 cash bail.
