[Updated] Police I.D. Man Carrying Gun on Street in West Harrison

Investigators determined the individual was not a threat to the public.

The Harrison Police Department is no longer seeking the individual shown on the attached flyer, according to a statement released Wednesday afternoon. 

That individual has been identified and questioned by police and is not a threat to the public, officials said.

"At this time the Harrison Police Department does not have reason to believe this person is a threat to the general public and there is no reason to believe he has committed a crime at this time," said Det. Garcia.

First story:

Police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man who appeared to be walking near Main Street in West Harrison with a gun on Saturday.

Harrison Police don't have any reports of any threat, injury or crime related to the incident, but want to know who it was and why he was carrying what looks like a lever-action rifle.

The man was spotted at about 6 p.m. Saturday, walking southbound on Underhill Avenue near Main Street in West Harison.

Here's a description of the man:

He's about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10

He's about 150 pounds

He appears to be dark skinned, possibly Hispanic

He could be in his 20s

He appears to have facial hair on his chin and possibly a light mustache.

He was last seen wearing large dark sunglasses, a blue jean jacket, tan pants, dark brown boots, and a possible brown satchel under his right arm.

"At this time the Harrison Police Department does not have reason to believe this person is a threat to the general public nor, is there reason to believe he has committed a crime at this time," Harrison Police said in a bulletin sent out today.
